BBM Profile: Earl Jordan

In 1973 I started in the mailroom at CBS Records in Philadelphia and my musical journey took me through sales and promotion for Columbia, Capitol and EMI, from Philly to Cleveland to LA and eventually to Warner Bros as VP of Sales, Black Music from 1990-98.

During my executive tenure, I directly impacted the sales success of many top artists, resulting in the sale of literally tens of millions of records.

Any claim of accomplishment would be the influence exerted along with other like music executives to generate Gospel Music into a stand-alone entity at National Retail Chains, out of the Chamber Music Sections and into its own, alongside POP, R&B and Country, with the implementation of corresponding marketing budgets.

For the last 17 years, I’ve served as Executive Director, Operations at West Angeles Church in Los Angeles, fulfilling the needs of the poor and serving the community. Our Ministry leads the way in faith-based urban initiatives including Education, Financial Literacy, Crime prevention, Economic development, and prioritization of Family values.

Sparked by an episode of “Being Mary Jane” and well before the #ME TOO movement, it was placed on my heart to bring awareness to the plight of Women with a focus on what Men can do to help empower Women. To this end, I started a Facebook page titled “Men Uplifting Women & Girls to Thrive”. Via a Sex Trafficking panel hosted by Shaun Robinson, I was introduced to “Saving Innocence”, an organization on the front lines rescuing and rehabilitating Children, Women & Girls caught up in the web of Human Trafficking.
