BBM Profile: Michael Stradford

My career path began in radio as a DJ/music director/program director in Toledo, Cincinnati, Detroit, St. Louis, Houston and ending up in Los Angeles launching 92.3 The Beat.  From there I segued over to the record industry as Quincy Jones’ VP of A&R at Qwest Records, working with artists like Tevin Campbell, Keith Washington, The Winans, Andrae Crouch, Tamia and of course, Quincy himself.

I transitioned into the home video market creating and running the DVD special features department for Columbia Home Entertainment for several years before moving into the digital space, overseeing original programming for Sony’s online portal, Crackle.com.  I am currently a director of Creative Content for Warner Home Entertainment, producing supplemental blu-ray content for Warner Bros. theatrically released films.

My journey has revealed a love of writing via two blogs, the Tall Guys Gear Guide and Looking for the Cool, and a book, ‘MilesSTYLE’, about the fashion of Miles Davis. I’m currently working on a new book, ‘Black to the Movies’, a combination of reviews, reflections and essays.  As for a song that never fails to get me going, ‘Theme from Shaft’ does it every time.

Viewing my skill set as adaptable and not limited to the industry I was in enabled me to thrive in a variety of industries over the years.
