Join us in congratulating LUE CALHOUN, Vice President of Entertainment, Reach Media, our recognized “Hero Behind The Culture” for #BlackMusicMonth. Starting as a receptionist at KKDA Radio, Lue’s talent and ambition propelled her into the world of marketing and promotions. This early experience culminated in producing the first Tom Joyner Celebrity Golf Classic, showcasing her exceptional talent for managing events.
She held positions at SBK, Elektra and Virgin Records before joining the Tom Joyner Morning Show as a show producer. Rising through the ranks to her current position, Lue became the architect of the brand’s signature events including the hugely successful Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage cruise, the Tom Joyner Family Reunion, the Tom Joyner Sky Shows and the In-Studio Jam. This in-studio program offered a platform for rising stars and established artists to perform live with Tom, promoting their latest music directly to a massive audience. The Fantastic Voyage has sailed for an impressive 23 years and raised a staggering $65 million for HBCUs. Her exceptional talent for booking celebrities, managing logistics, and budgets consistently delivered sold-out crowds and unforgettable experiences.
A true community leader, she spearheaded a campaign that raised over $30,000 for schools devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Her talents have graced numerous initiatives, including Houston’s Annual Mayor’s Holiday Spectacular and Tree Lighting, The Trumpet Awards, Stellar Awards, Black Music Honors, Super Bowl Gospel Celebration and Black Entrepreneurs Week.
Lue’s career is a powerful testament to her dedication, creativity, and exceptional relationship-building skills. She continues to be a driving force in the industry, a respected leader, and a generous advocate for the music community.
