BMM 2021 – Our 1999 Honorees

We’re in South Beach at the Fontainebleu Hotel in Miami at the Impact Super Summit and we celebrated ‘cause it was 1999!  In honor of #BlackMusicMonth & our 30th Anniversary, we are remembering our past awards dinners and honorees. Ruben Rodriguez served as the Dinner Chairman, Roy Ayers and Divine were the entertainment that night.  How many of you were in South Beach that year? The honorees were:

L-R:  Earnest L. James, VP/GM-Market Manager Clear Channel, VP Urban Stations Viacom, President & GM WGCI & WVON, owner WCIN Cincinnati;    Amos “Dazz” Keaton, Dazz Drive Thru Records in Camden, NJ; Oscar Fields, VP Sales/Marketing WEA & Warner Bros,  Executive VP Motown

L-R: Ed Castleberry, broadcast journalist National Black Network NYC; Lorraine Murphy, owner LBM Records store in Parkchester, NY & founder Metropolitan Independent Retailers Association; Harry Coombs, Executive VP Philadelphia International Records, CBS Records, Tangerine Records

Some of these honorees are no longer with us but their contributions to the Black Music industry will never be forgotten.
