LLF Celebrate Board Members – Jon Platt

If there is an example of leading powerfully with inclusivity, compassion and style, that would be Jon Platt and we are honored to have him on our Board of Directors.  Jon is Chairman & CEO of Sony Music Publishing, the number one global music publisher.  It’s reported that his leadership style has reshaped the corporate culture at Sony and he’s increased the number of female senior leaders.

Jon is credited with “bringing hip-hop music to dominance in the publishing world by elevating how R&B and hip hop artists are respected and compensated as songwriters”.  He spent 17 years at EMI Music Publishing moving up to President, Creative, North America.  He joined Warner Chappell Music as President, Creative, North America in 2012, was promoted a year later to President, North America and joined Sony in 2019.

Jon has received numerous honors including the Living Legends Foundation Award, Billboard’s Power 100, SESAC’s Visionary Award, Morehouse College’s Candle Award, Music Visionary of the Year by the UJA-Federation of NY and City of Hope’s prestigious Spirit of Life Award.  In 2005, he launched the Big Jon Platt Scholarship Program, annually awarding 3 high school students from his hometown of Denver with college scholarships.

Jon has served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for the MusiCares Foundation and sits on the boards of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Motown Museum and the Living Legends Foundation.
