BHM 2021 – Paradise 24 | LA

In LA between 1985-1989, one of the hottest clubs was Paradise 24, at 6215 Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood.  It was run by Felipe Darrell, Greg Lites, Ray Moore, Artris Leftage, Larry Wallace and Greg Thomas.  The partners had outgrown their previous spot called 24K and were looking for a venue that could hold 2000 people.  Their vision was fulfilled of providing a great place to dance to great music and experience a nightlife filled with surprise acts and celebrity appearances.

Who did you see there?  The promotion people at the labels would host release parties there and would bring their artists to the venue to perform.  Everyone dressed to impress! Those were the days.  At any time, you could see Magic Johnson, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Miki Howard, Tommy Hearns, Boyz II Men, Chaka Khan and more.

Felipe and Greg went on to open the Palladium as the only African Americans to own the lease to that world-famous venue.  What are your favorite memories of this part of your history?
