BHM 2020 – Headcrack

I am a media personality, actor, DJ and hip-hop artist. I’m currently the host of the nationally syndicated The Morning Hustle that is featured in over 37 markets through Urban One, including Dallas, Philly, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, OKC & Birmingham. I have to admit that I’ve had an exceptional radio career, which initially began with my #1 rated night time slot at 97.9 FM The Beat in Dallas.

I’m also a hip-hop performer and my progressive hip-hop group, The Bodega Brovas, has released a critically acclaimed LP “L.G.A. (Loaded Guns and Alcohol)” and spent portions of the last 7 years touring overseas and in the US. In addition to working on the next group project, I’m also preparing to release my solo album “Aktion Park ” which is being spearheaded by the breakout single “All The Way Lit” featuring newcomer Mahdi.

I also dabble in comedy in the form of my traveling show “The Live Comedy Mixtape”.

Without a doubt, the person who influenced me would have to be my man DJ EZ Street. He was a night time jock in Dallas back in the 90’s. (He’s now in D.C.) To me EZ was the epitome of cool and always was approachable in the streets. I’d call into his show and rap and he eventually invited me to the station and showed me around. It was that moment I realized how much power there was within the platform. EZ was always plugged into what was cool in the culture. He had a voice and style that reminded me of home (Bronx, NY), and most importantly he was a man of the people.

I think he and I vibed because mentally we were cut from a similar cloth. The key in life should be to use your position of power to empower people. EZ allowing me to rap on air and being able to take a peek into the behind the scenes aspects of radio gave me ideas of how I would move within any position I ever found myself in within the business.

My proudest moments? Fortunately, I get to live them daily. Anytime someone comes up to me & tells me that they enjoy my show lets me know that for some part of a day I was able to help you take your mind off your problems & make you happy. That for me is always a win.
