The late great Joe Butterball Tamburro influenced my career. He was a great mentor and friend. I am proud to say he taught me well, and now I am the host of his popular Sunday Night Oldies show. He was honest, funny and a wealth of knowledge about the business. He wasn’t afraid to share and teach. He was loved by everyone and he was a great family man. He always made people feel special.
He knew how to communicate behind the mic. He didn’t talk at you, he spoke to you. You felt like you knew him without ever seeing him. I have borrowed that style for my own presentation on air.
My proudest moment was when I was inducted in the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame. To look in that audience and see those who helped me along the way, it was a great moment to say Thank You.
