BBM Profile: Arrik Weathers

After graduating from USC, I was introduced to industry legend, Violet Brown, by Don Clemons. She hired me as a store manager at the highest grossing urban record store on the west coast, Wherehouse Records #502 on LaBrea & Rodeo. The historic location had in-stores for the biggest names in R&B and Hip Hop.

It was there that I caught the eye of CEMA Distribution and was hired as an urban marketing rep. Six months later, I was introduced to a VP at WEA Distribution, Tony Niemczyk, by Tegra Little & hired as the West Coast Sales & Marketing Manager Urban Music, working with Quincy Jones, Anita Baker, Brandy, Lil Kim, En Vogue & Aaliyah.  During the 3 years in that position, I met amazing people and enjoyed the music but realized that corporate culture was not for me. I resigned without having another job, in search of my true passion.

I was a music marketing consultant, singer and a property manager/renovator. I realized then that I enjoyed property management/real estate and sharpened my interior design skills that were introduced to me by my dad while I was growing up. I soon became a leasing consultant and did renovations for a boutique firm in Santa Monica. Later I opened my own residential real estate brokerage, First Elite Properties, Inc. in Beverly Hills.  We handle many areas in California at a variety of price-points. I began receiving requests for design services after people saw properties that I designed and flipped. We now include interior design as part of our service offer. Everyone deserves to have excellent service and I’m grateful for the opportunity to give it to them! It’s never too late to discover your passion. Follow your heart; you’ll find it.

The artists who most inspired me are Oprah Winfrey and Patti LaBelle because of how gracious they are every time I encounter them.  Connect with me on FB: Arrik Weathers
