With nearly 30 years of entrepreneurial success, Lucas has been recognized by VIBE as the #1 Independent Record Label. Slip-N-Slide launched the careers of artists like Trick Daddy, Trina, Rick Ross, and Plies. He also founded First-N-Gold Publishing, a music publishing powerhouse with a catalog of over 10,000 compositions.
Beyond music, Lucas channels his influence into philanthropy. He established the Ted Lucas Foundation, aiding youth and young adults in Miami’s inner cities, while also spearheading Tech Knowledge, offering free training programs in tech sales, cybersecurity, and tech entrepreneurship in South Florida.
Currently, his focus is shaping the future of technology as Co-Founder of The Source Groups. From producing platinum records and creating music industry millionaires to bridging the tech gap for underserved communities, Lucas is building a legacy of leaders and tastemakers, while leaving a lasting imprint on culture.
In collaboration with Florida Memorial University (FMU), South Florida’s only HBCU, Lucas is helping establish the school as a hub for tech and innovation. Strategic partnerships with JPMorgan Chase, Amazon, and Dade County Federal Credit Union further his mission of expanding access, building talent pipelines and cultivating generational wealth.
In recognition of his influence, he was awarded the Key to Miami-Dade County, with September 4th named Ted Lucas Day. The City of Miami Beach also honored him with a key to the city and his own day on December 13th. Also on December 14, 2023 he was presented with a Key to The City of Miami celebrating 50 years of Hip Hop. His legacy isn’t just in records or titles, it’s in the lives he’s helped move forward.
