In honor of #BlackMusicMonth & our 30th Anniversary, we are remembering our past awards dinners & honorees. We were firmly settled at the Taglyan Cultural Center in Hollywood and it was the perfect kickoff for Legends Weekend. In 2017, we made a format change for the show and established “Late Night with Rolanda Watts” with Broadcasting and Media personality, Rolanda Watts as the host. She interviewed the honorees and they were able to give their acceptance speech during the interview. DJ Y-Not opened the show with background music to Song stylist Lydia Renee created a new arrangement of “Lift Every Voice” and Pastor Marilyn Batchelor blessed the event. Quincy Jones’ protégé, Shelea, brought her band and showed out! That lady can flat out sing!
Our Event Chairpersons were Geo Bivins & Siedah Garrett. Siedah visited various tables and interviewed the dinner guests, which was great since guests across the room were able to see who was there! What do you remember? Share your memory! The honorees that year were:
