After a 3 year hiatus with no dinners, we made the decision to take the gala to the West Coast. In honor of #BlackMusicMonth & our 30th Anniversary, we are remembering our past awards dinners and honorees. The Music Industry Legends & Icons group were hosting a successful reunion picnic every October so we partnered with them to create the Legends Weekend. Ken Wilson recommended a banquet hall called the Taglyan Cultural Complex in Hollywood. The dinner was on Friday and the picnic was on Sunday so attendees had a day to visit friends and enjoy the LA sunshine. Jon Platt was the Event Chairman and Colleen Wilson was the Committee Chairperson. The hosts were comedian Jonathan Slocumb and Vinny Brown and Eric Benet provided the entertainment. Sportscaster and pastor, Mark Jackson started the evening right with the Invocation and his wife, renowned vocalist, Desiree Coleman Jackson, offered an inspirational selection. We had celebrities presenting the awards – Sheila E, Lawrence Hilton Jacobs, Anna Maria Horsford, Kashif, Keri Hilson, Angie Fisher, Shelea, whew! It was a great way to welcome the Foundation to LA!
