Today, the Living Legends Foundation is celebrating the Heroes of Black Music & Culture. Join us in congratulating SARAH O’CONNOR, Senior Programmer at Music Choice, our recognized “Hero Behind The Culture”.

Born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, Sarah embarked on her media career in 1995 with internships at BET and WPGC-FM (Rhythmic). These early connections proved vital, as the relationships forged at the start of her journey would shape her career path for years to come. After a part-time stint at WPGC, Sarah ventured to Philadelphia, joining Power 99 (Urban) as Helen Little’s Programming Assistant. She was promoted to Morning Show Producer of the Morning Show hosted by Colby “Colby Colb” Tyner and Wendy Williams.

In 2000, Sarah returned to WPGC as Music Director under Jay Stevens, maintaining the station’s legendary #1 ratings. Her career then brought her back to Philadelphia as Marketing and Music Director for Radio One’s 100.3 The Beat (Urban), working again with Colby Tyner. 2006 marked a reunion with Helen Little in New York at iHeartRadio’s Power 105.1 (Urban), where Sarah produced The Ed Lover Morning Show.

Sarah’s path led her back to Philadelphia in 2011, serving as Assistant Program Director for Radio One’s 107.9 WRNB (Urban AC) and Praise 103.9 (Gospel). After just six months, she helped launch and was promoted to Program Director of sister station Hot 107.9 (Urban), making history by assembling and launching the first all-woman morning show in Urban radio.

Briefly stepping away from radio to pursue her passion for sports, Sarah worked with the Washington Commanders and Washington Nationals before returning to produce the Quincy Harris Morning Show at Radio One’s 100.3 WRNB (Urban) in Philadelphia, under Operations Manager Karen Vaughn.

Currently, Sarah is in her third year at Music Choice, overseeing the Urban cluster of channels under the guidance of Vice President Nadine Santos.
