My name is Kiona Lewis and I am at Hitco doing National Radio Promotions. Both of my parents were in radio at one point, but my father Mike Kelly, is the one currently active. I was an industry baby without knowing I was an industry baby! I spent a lot of time at radio stations, on the road, and hanging out backstage with the artists growing up. It was normal for me and I loved every second!
There were many defining moments that made me realize that I wanted a career in music. When I was in elementary school in Dallas, Texas, Greg Street let me get in the booth and record his famous ‘It’s six o’clock, it’s six o’clock, it’s time for Greg Street to rock” at K104! Game changer!
My first job was working on the 107.5 WBLS street team in NYC directly out of college (Shout out to Skip Dillard and Mitch Ayers!) I also worked at UMG and Epic to name a few. Now, I am excited and blessed to join LA Reid at Hitco!
There have seen a myriad of changes in the industry since my dad started. I really admire all of the powerful women in the game, in all areas of this industry. Didn’t see too much of that back in the day. It’s inspiring to see, and I am honored to be in a position to see a lot of powerful women in action, up close and personal today. I can because of them. I strive everyday for my ultimate goal, which is becoming the President of a major label.
I love music and my go to song (outside of anything Beyoncé) is Michael Jackson’s “Jam”. Hit me up at @kbaybay86
