We are Danielle Lott, Regional Manager of Urban Promotion (Mid-Atlantic & NC) for Republic Records and Damon Lott, National Director of Urban Promotion for Atlantic Records. Our parents, Alan & Lygia Lott are longtime record industry veterans who are responsible for helping to launch the careers of a multitude of artists such as Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, D’Angelo and more. Our Dad, Alan helped break rap/hip hop onto mainstream radio by promoting The Sugarhill Gang, Afrika Bambaataa, Run DMC, LL Cool J, etc. We were very young when our Dad initially exposed us to music & the industry. We literally grew up in it. He took us with him to radio meetings, concerts, backstage & to meet & greets. As young teenagers, we interned for Mimi Brown’s Rap Digest show on WDAS.
After H.S., we both moved to California from Philly to attend college & we ended up working with our parents’ company Coast II Coast Marketing & Promotion. We realized then how passionate we were about working in the music industry. After working for Coast II Coast, Damon established street teams in LA & Miami. After that, he worked for EMI, Capitol, J/RCA, and now Atlantic Records. Danielle ventured back east to attend Howard University while promoting records at WHUR for our parents. She also interned for Island Def Jam & Motown while @ Howard. She’s worked for Coast II Coast, Tommy Boy, Blackground, Koch/E1, Sanctuary and Universal Records, now Republic Records.
Our ultimate goals are to continue to break new artists, break #1 records and to continue our father’s legacy through great relationships and through mentorship. We believe the biggest change via the music industry today is the way people consume music. During our parents’ time in the industry, there were radio, vinyl, cassettes and cd’s but now everything is digital and consumed through streaming. We believe that the future of the music industry lies with music becoming more easily accessible through digital and mobile sources. The songs that inspire us most are “As” by Stevie Wonder & “A Love Supreme” by John Coltrane. Hit us up @ IG @danilott1022 & @dlott48; twitter @dlott.
