Dion Summers
Vice President of Music Programming at Sirius XM/Pandora

Today, the Living Legends Foundation is celebrating the Heroes of Black Music & Culture. Join us in congratulating DION “DEEZY” SUMMERS, Vice President of Music Programming at Sirius XM/Pandora, our recognized “Hero Behind The Culture”.
A child of radio, Dion has immersed himself in music and culture professionally for nearly 40 years! At 15, a chance phone call to his local Top 40 radio station, landed him an internship – his first foray into the industry. After four years at Syracuse University, much of which spent at student-run WJPZ-FM, Dion started his commercial radio career in 1994 at his hometown radio station WERQ-FM (92Q, Baltimore).
Dion spent nine successful years at 92Q, during which time he rose through the ranks from Overnight Air Talent to Program Director. Following his programming years at 92Q, Dion spent three years in Miami, where he started iHeartMedia Hip-Hop station WMIB-FM (103.5 The Beat, Miami).
Since 2005, Dion has explored next-level media, managing Hip-Hop/R&B/Gospel/Reggae formats for SiriusXM and Pandora. Throughout his tenure at SiriusXM/Pandora, Dion has been responsible for exclusive content from Drake, LL COOL J, Usher, Mariah Carey, Kirk Franklin, Snoop Dogg and more. He’s also discovered many new and emerging music artists. In addition, Dion considers himself a ‘player coach’ – maintaining a consistent on-air presence on the platform as well. He can be heard hosting The Hotness, a weekly countdown show on SiriusXM The Heat, Channel 46.
Dion has consistently ranked as a Billboard Magazine ‘Hip-Hop/R&B Power Player’ for the past ten years, and a member of his college radio station’s Hall Of Fame. He is proud of, and humbled by, the mark that he continues to make on the culture.

Dion, the Living Legends Foundation recognizes your hard work and love for the culture. We see you and now others will too!
