Today, the Living Legends Foundation is celebrating the Heroes of Black Music & Culture. Join us in congratulating DARRICK “BROWN” WILLIAMS, Urban Format Captain and Operations Manager for Alpha Media, our recognized “Hero Behind The Culture”.

Hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Brown’s musical journey began as a DJ at the tender age of 9. By 17, he was a local mixer at WKWM and later joined Grand Rapids’ first 24-hour Hip Hop station, 1680 JAMZ, as Night Personality and Imaging Director. He refined his production skills as an Associate Producer for Jack Daniel’s Production and Scotty Web Creations in DC.

During his career, Brown has held positions at World Space, a Satellite Radio company, as an Imaging Director and then Program Director for their Gospel Format; APD/MD at WPGC in D.C.; Music Director at WBLS/WLIB in NYC; Operations Manager for Old School 105.3 and Praise in Charlotte and then OM for the Radio One Philadelphia cluster. His talent was recognized by acclaimed radio programmers Jay Stevens, Reggie Rouse and Tony Gray, who recommended him for advancements and he credits his powerhouse mentors, Ray Boyd and Skip Dillard for his success.

Moving to Alpha Media in Louisville in 2016, Brown became Program Director for B96.5 and MAGIC 101.3. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Format Captain for Urban Mainstream and Adult R&B in 2018, and ultimately Operations Manager for Alpha Media Columbia, SC, in 2019. This cluster includes The Big DM, Hot 1039/939, The FOX, Live, and Alt.
