Celebrating the Heroes of Black Music & Culture: Eddie Pugh

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Today, the Living Legends Foundation is celebrating the Heroes of Black Music & Culture.

Join us in congratulating EDDIE PUGH, veteran music executive, our recognized “Hero Behind The Culture” for #BlackMusicMonth. Eddie started his career in the music industry at Campus Record Distributors in Miami, Florida, after leaving Miami Dade Junior College. Initially hired to do radio promotions for the State of Florida, focusing on R&B music, Eddie quickly expanded his expertise to cover all music genres, significantly enhancing his promotional skills. His dedication to understanding the entire music distribution process, from promotions to sales and marketing, enabled him to break several notable records in the Florida market, including the rock group, KISS, that put them on the radar, nationally and internationally.

His career has included promotion positions at Tone Distributors (TK Records), Warner-Elektra-Atlantic (W.E.A.), Warner Bros. Records and Casablanca Records. He left the label system to establish Double Lady Productions and secured a deal for his artists, Mighty Fire with Elektra Records. A few years later, he joined Columbia Records, where he ascended to Sr. VP or Promotion. Eddie’s expertise was instrumental in breaking new artists and sustaining the careers of established artists.

In 1995, Eddie launched God’s Turn Records, signing gospel artists Inger Reid (now Hanna), and Earnest Pugh. In this role, Eddie was mentoring and grooming new talent, including the band Sensere, now firmly established on the Christian/Gospel scene.

Throughout his career, Eddie exhibited an innate ability to adapt in the ever-evolving music industry and he left a lasting impact on the artists he worked with because of his tenacity and dedication to building their careers.
Eddie is currently working on a project that he believes will make a major impact on inmates within the nation’s prison system.
