BMM 2021 – Our 2006 Honorees

We started hosting the Awards dinners in NY at the Highland Ballroom in the meat-packing district around the time of the Grammy Awards. In honor of #BlackMusicMonth & our 30th Anniversary, we are remembering our past awards dinners and honorees.  In 2006, do you remember when Cathy Hughes, founder of Urban One wrote us a big check on the spot? Then Miller London got on the mic and challenged the record labels not to let a radio network outdo them?  LA Reid and Doug Morris stepped up and wrote a check, then RCA jumped in and wrote another one!  It was an exciting night and we raised significant funds for the Foundation to continue our work of helping our brothers and sisters when they were in need.  The honorees that year were:

Top row L-R:  Charles Goldstuck, Founder/Co-Chairman Hitco Entertainment, former President & COO BMG, Co-Founder J Records & EVP Arista; LA Reid, Founder/Co-Chairman Hitco Entertainment, Co-Founder LaFace Records, CEO/President Arista, Chairman. CEO Island Def Jam, Chairman/CEO Epic

2nd row L-R:  Skip Cheatham, PD Majic 94.5 Dallas, Exec Producer The DL Hughley Show, former PD KKDA/K-104;  Stephen Hill, Caesar’s Son Productions, former President of Programming at BET & Director of Music Programming at MTV.

We honor their contributions to the music industry.  Full bios will be at livinglegendsfoundation.com.
