BMM 2021 – Our 2005 Honorees

After Impact closed, we started hosting the awards dinners on our own. In honor of #BlackMusicMonth & our 30th Anniversary, we are remembering our past awards dinners and honorees.  Let us know what you remember! We didn’t have a dinner in 2004 & made some changes in 2005. Hurricane Katrina roared through Louisiana in August and our beloved Treasurer, Barbara Lewis, lost everything in the flood. Thanx to the Living Legends Foundation, she was able to get some funds to help her family rebuild. That also meant that the records and memorabilia from the previous awards were destroyed as well but Barbara and C.C. Evans were able to restore the records.

The Young Black Programmers Coalition stopped hosting their conference so we slid into their November slot and hosted the awards at the Westin Hotel Times Square in NYC.  Ken Wilson was the Dinner Chairman and Heather Headley was the evening’s entertainment. The honorees were Doc Wynter, Senior VP Urban Programming iHeartmedia and Doug Banks, late host of the syndicated Doug Banks Radio Show.

Doug is no longer with us but his contributions to the Black Music industry will never be forgotten.

Full bios will be at livinglegendsfoundation.com.
