BBM Profile: Yvette and Colin Gayle

Yvette: My music industry journey started as a summer job at Columbia Records while in college as part of the coveted Sony Music Minority internship program.  Upon graduation, I was hired as an assistant in their Publicity Department working with The Fugees, Destiny’s Child, Jermaine Dupri, Nancy Wilson, Mariah Carey, Kenny Lattimore and the list goes on.  Yvette Noel- Schure and Miguel Baguer taught me music industry ethics and I rose through the ranks.  In 2000, Steve Stoute hired me to oversee the urban publicity roster at Interscope Geffen A&M, where I spent 17 years working with their incredible roster.

Colin: I was working in corporate America after college and transitioned to the music industry with the inception of my artist management firm, Rhythm Jazz handling Jazzy Jeff, Jill Scott, Kenny Lattimore, Adriana Avans, Vidal Davis and Andre Davis. I expanded Warner Bros. Urban within Europe and Asia enhancing profiles of Madonna, Eric Benet, and Jaheim.  In 2003 I assumed the role of GM of International Marketing and Global Branding for 50 Cent and the G Unit brand in Europe and Asia. I produced Nelson Mandela’s 80th birthday party in which Kenny Lattimore performed and Yvette & I realized the enormous opportunities in Africa. I started working on the continent and today we have grown our family business, Africa Creative Agency, with offices in Johannesburg, Kenya and Ghana, utilizing everything from content, content platforms, live events and social engineering.  I’m proud to have implemented the launch event for the 2010 World Cup, 50 Cent’s storied Tour of Mozambique and South Africa and T.D. Jakes Mega Fest in South Africa.  Last year we filmed specials for Uninterrupted and Tidal.  We represent four artists signed to Universal Music Africa in which South African Rapper Nasty C topped the charts this month.

Moving our family to South Africa this year was monumental.  At Africa Creative we craft global campaigns for our African artists, manage the creative process across various territories and seek new business opportunities to amplify our artists’ brands.   Life is meant to be remixed. You’ll know when it’s time to remix yours.
