Growing up I never dreamed that I would become influential in the music industry. As a child, one of my chores was cleaning my Mom’s record collection and making sure her name was stamped on them to keep other family members honest. This seemingly mundane task lead me to a love of music. After a brief stint in the U.S. Navy, I became involved in the entertainment industry as a musician, DJ, nightclub manager, newscaster, record label founder, producer, production/tour manager and a gofer for Al & the Kidd Promotions, eventually landing at WEA Distribution, RCA, Epic and Mercury Records in various capacities.
I have had the pleasure of working with artists such as The Crusaders, Patrice Rushen, Bob Marley, Prince, Chaka Khan, Lakeside, Shalamar, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Sade, Teena Marie, Brian McKnight, Alexander O’Neal and many others who were instrumental to my success in my 40 years in the industry.
I am a member of the Living Legends Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing those members of the entertainment industry whose efforts and contributions have paved the way for many in the industry, especially minorities and women. I am a consultant for Concerts for Causes Inc., which provides musical instruments to deserving students in the D.C. metropolitan area.
My career has taken me on many roads. After my tenure in the entertainment industry, I became a computer consultant working for companies such as Booz-Allen-Hamilton, World Bank, and the U.S. Mint.
Currently I work to help people make better choices as a Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia and as a minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
