Celebrating the Heroes of Black Music & Culture: Traci Adams

Today, the Living Legends Foundation is celebrating the Heroes of Black Music & Culture.

Join us in congratulating TRACI ADAMS, EVP Promotion, Epic Records, our recognized “Hero Behind The Culture”.

Born and raised in Savannah Georgia, Traci and her siblings were exposed to music by their father, Jazz trombonist Teddy Adams. Her 12 years of classical piano training would prove to be prevalent in igniting Traci’s soon-to-be career passion as one of the most talented music executives of our generation.
During her summer breaks while a student at Savannah State University, she interned at LaFace Records in Atlanta. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications and a minor in Theater, intending to pursue an acting career. Instead, she accepted a position as Programming Assistant for Radio One/WFUN in St. Louis, where a newfound passion was acquired. With hard work and determination, a year later she was promoted to Music Director while also delivering the entertainment news under the moniker “Koa Koa Thai”.

Benny Pough of Island Def Jam Records recognized her talent and offered her a Regional Manager position in the Midwest. She then held regional positions in Washington, DC and NY and her hard work led to her promotion to Senior Director of National Promotion which she held until 2012.
She joined Benny and LA Reid at Epic as VP Urban Promotion, was promoted to SVP Promotion and is now EVP Promotion. Traci was one of 2 executives chosen from Epic for Sony’s Fast Forward Leadership Program, a weeklong studies program in London with other Sony Executives from around the world.

Traci has been recognized in multiple Billboard issues in the “R&B Hip Hop Power Players” and the “Women in Music” editions. Her ongoing commitment to excellence and her proven track record make her an indispensable leader in the dynamic world of music promotion.
