Celebrating the Heroes of Black Music & Culture: Tim “Minnesota Fattz” Snell

Today, the Living Legends Foundation is celebrating the Heroes of Black Music & Culture.

Join us in congratulating TIM “MINNESOTA FATTZ” SNELL, Senior Vice President of Programming, Augusta, GA, our recognized “Hero Behind The Culture” for #BlackMusicMonth. Fattz began his radio career at WRDW Augusta which was owned by the late James Brown, and would hold on-air positions at WTHB Augusta, WEBB Baltimore, WFXE Columbus GA and WFXA Foxie 103 in Augusta.

Fattz later became Director of Urban Programming for Davis Broadcasting’s Radio Cluster WFXA, WAKB, WAEG, WEAJ, WTHB and would deliver the highest ratings in the station’s history. When Cumulus Broadcasting launched a new station in the Augusta Market, WPRW Power 107, Fattz and his morning show co-host Cher Best joined the station and became the #1 rated local morning show in Augusta in less than a year. Fattz was also appointed Program Director for WPRW.

Cumulus sold their Augusta stations to Clear Channel Broadcasting and Fattz was promoted to Director of Urban Programming, which included sister station WKSP 96.3 Kiss FM. He adjusted the format from Jamming Oldies and relaunched it as an R&B and Old School format with 10,000 Jams in a row. Once again, Fattz & Cher moved to 96.3 Kiss FM and gave it the boost it needed to be ranked the #1 adult station in the Augusta Market.

Tim “Minnesota Fattz” Snell is beloved for his dedication to friends, family and the community. He has won numerous awards including the National Black Programmers Coalition Station of the Year, the Boy Scout Eagle Award of Excellence, the NAACP Excellence in Broadcasting Award, R&R Small Market Hip Hop Station of the Year, R&R Small Market Urban AC Station of the Year Award.
