Celebrating the Heroes of Black Music & Culture: Louise West

Today, the Living Legends Foundation is celebrating the Heroes of Black Music & Culture.

Join us in congratulating LOUISE WEST, ESQ. Founder, West Entertainment Services, our recognized “Hero Behind The Culture” for #BlackMusicMonth. Louise is a graduate of Fisk University and American University Law School. She has practiced law for over thirty years, beginning her legal career as a copyright examiner at the U.S. Copyright Office and the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C.

She became an associate to Louis Clayton Jones at the firm Patterson, Michaels, Dinkins and Jones and later established West Entertainment Services, a boutique music and new media firm ni New York City. The firm’s clients have included Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, Roc-A-Fella Records, Damon Dash, Hip Hop Since 1978 (the Production Company for Kanye West), Ginuwine, The Power Summit, Trey Songz, Stephen “Static” Garrett, Noah “40” Shebib, Anthony Hamilton, Carl Thomas, Morning Crew Records, Gary Taylor, Frenchie Davis (American Idol runner Up), All
HipHop.com and a number of other developing and established recording artists, producers, songwriters, record executives, publishing companies, independent record companies and new media companies.

She is one of the founders of the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association (BESLA) and a Trustee of The R &B Foundation. She has been a lecturer for the Practicing Law Institute and taught “Legal Protection of Music, Art and Literature” at Howard University.
