LLF Celebrate Board Members – Sam Weaver

Sam Weaver is the Urban/R&B Editor and columnist for the online music and radio trade publication All Access.com.  He’s also a radio talent coach and consultant, working with on air personalities, Program Directors, Podcasters and Internet radio broadcasters.

Sam’s career has taken him all over the country.  He’s been an on air personality in St. Louis, Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, San Francisco and Greensboro and programmed the R&B/Urban AC, Urban Mainstream, Top 40 Mainstream, Country, Sports, Talk, Gospel and Rock formats in Dallas, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, New Orleans and Memphis. Sam has the distinction of being the only Program Director to have programmed both the oldest Black-owned & operated stations (KPRS/KPRT-Kansas City) and the oldest Black programmed station (WDIA/Memphis).

His other career highlights include teaching radio classes at Columbia College in Chicago, hosting Westwood One’s nationally syndicated “Superstars of R&B Concert Series,” holding a current seat on the Board of Directors for the Living Legends Foundation, former member of the American Arbitration Association, former Board member for The Negro League Baseball Museum and one time comedy writer for the late Jerry Boulding’s nationally syndicated “Highlights” radio show.

Sam has moderated or been a panelist at conventions for Billboard Magazine, The National Association Of Broadcasters (NAB), The Concave, The National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB) and the Canadian Music Festival.
