LLF Celebrate Board Members – Azim Rashid

We’re honored to celebrate Advisory Board member Azim Rashid, who is Senior Vice President/Head of Urban Promotion at Columbia Records. Azim started in the industry as a Rap artist with the Dallas-based group NEMESIS, which led him into radio, retail and lifestyle promotion and a 20-year career in music and entertainment marketing.  He’s also held senior positions at Motown, Universal, Atlantic, Capitol and RocNation.

Azim has earned a reputation as a brand strategist and has created campaigns for numerous recording artists at start-up companies and the major labels.  His expertise extends past music into literature, film, gaming, charitable initiatives and content creation.  A number of current industry executives have benefitted from his mentorship and team building abilities.

Azim graduated from The University of North Texas and gives his time and resources to charitable and civic organizations including Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation, The Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center, Suit up Experience, The Urban League, NAACP, City of Hope, The Living Legends Foundation, Music Business Empowerment Conference and the National Museum of African American Music.
