BMM 2021 -Our 1995 Honorees

Were you at the 1995 awards dinner? In celebration of #BlackMusicMonth & our 30th Anniversary, we remember that night!  We held the dinner again at the Impact SuperSummit at the Bally’s Park Place Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.  Elroy Smith was the Dinner Chairman and the Honorary Chairman was Melvin Van Peebles! The evening’s hosts were Patti LaBelle and Doug Banks and we had a special surprise guest in the audience – Lena Horne!  The entire room was buzzing when she entered the room.  Perspective once again provided the entertainment featuring a performance by SOLO.  The 1995 honorees were:

L-R: Mildred Carter, owner KPRS, Kansas City; August Sims, manager Jackie Wilson & indie promotion/marketing; Ron Mosely, independent producer/writer, Co-Founder Sussex Records & Promotion Exec at MGM, Warner Bros, ABC/Dunhill, Capitol, Polydor, RCA & indie promotion; Jerry Rushin, VP/ GM WEDR, Miami

L-R: Enoch Gregory, “The Master Blaster”, WNJR, WWRL in NYC & WCHB Detroit; Sylvia Robinson, singer/songwriter/producer, Co-Founder All Platinum Records & Sugar Hill Records; Granville “Granny” White, National Field Promotion Manager, CBS Records & indie promotion.

Some of these honorees are no longer with us but their contributions to the Black Music industry will never be forgotten.
